NOURISH is a pilot program that is focused on two goals:
1) Providing practical job training and skills development for entry in to food services; and
2) Providing healthy, affordable food for the community.

We are looking for 4 participants to make up our first co-hort. The ideal participant will be looking to improve their job skills, enjoy food and cooking for others, prefers job roles that are varied and change from day to day, and works well on a team. (There are some additional requirements from our funder that are found at the bottom of this posting.)

The NOURISH Assistants (4) are based in Fort St John, BC and will report to the Food Security Coordinator.

The NOURISH Assistant will:
 Receive, evaluate, and process local food donations in collaboration with the Fort St John Salvation Army;
 Develop partnerships with local community groups including scheduling, gathering supplies/materials, communicating expectations, and troubleshooting issues if they arise;
 Perform risk assessments daily, weekly, and as necessary to keep all food product, participants, and staff safe;
 Completing all mandatory weekly/monthly reporting This position may require a varied workweek schedule.

 Must be EI eligible and a client of Employment Connections Fort St John
 Strong desire to learn new skills
 Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects/tasks  Ability to work unsupervised and demonstrate motivation and initiative  Ability to work varied hours
 Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Internet usage

REQUIRED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE All Job Creation Partnership positions are funded to promote employment opportunities for EI eligible participants. The position and duration of it are based on funding approval.

To be eligible for the program, job applicants should meet the following criteria:
 Is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act* and;
 Is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.

 This is a temporary full-time position lasting 11 weeks. Hours of the position will vary according to the activities being undertaken, averaging 35-40 hours per week
 Reimbursement for use of personal vehicle at $0.54 per kilometer
