This stressful time in our history is, indeed, unprecedented (are you as tired of that word as us?). It is truly a time your Wildling will never forget. We know that more than ever, your Wildlings need to connect with the world around them to be reminded that there are still wonderful, beautiful things happening. We are thrilled to be able to bring Wildlings back to beautiful Fish Creek Community Forest this summer.
NEAT is excited to open registration for Camp Wildlings and Little Wildlings for Summer 2020. We have 5 Wildlings sessions and 3 Little Wildlings sessions for you to choose from. All of the camps run out of Fish Creek behind Northern Lights College in Fort St John.
We’ve divided participants into two groups, Little Wildlings for those going into or coming out of kindergarten and Wildlings for Grades 1-6 (ages 7-12). The biggest change you will see this summer is the number of Wildlings attending each camp. To make sure we are following the best advice given by the incredible team that is leading BC in this COVID-19 world, we are decreasing the number of Wildlings we have in the forest each week. Little Wildlings will be limited to 10 registrants per week and Wildlings will be limited to 20 per week instead of the normal 20 and 30 respectively. This will help Wild Leaders better follow the protocols we have in place for social distancing, handwashing, etc.
Another change we will notice (and we will miss terribly) this summer is with our amazing line up of special guests that regularly help us teach whittling and bear/animal safety. To keep social distancing and outside contact down, we will not be asking our friends to join us this summer. Our wonderful team of Wild Leaders will be reaching out to the experts and bringing each of these topics to the Wildlings themselves this year.
The wonderful news is that the core of Wildlings will still be in full swing! Each week Wildlings will build a base camp which they will operate out of for much of the week. We provide all of our Wildlings the opportunity to explore the creek in groups as they see fit. We provide supervision and monitor safety (no one explores alone) but a big part of the Wildlings experience is encouraging them to take the lead exploring the world around them. Our skilled leaders have activities planned to help provide variety to the week as well.
Little Wildlings run from 9-1 and Wildlings from 9-3:30. We do offer before and after care (before only for Littles). Secure your space today for the best adventures of the summer! Let’s run Wild together!
